Spencer is a copy editor at The New Yorker and edits criticism for The Margins, the magazine published by the Asian American Writers’ Workshop.

He was previously the publishing manager for The Paris Review and, before that, the online editor for Astra Magazine. His own writing has appeared in The New York Times Book Review, The Paris Review Daily, Poets & Writers Magazine, and Boston Review.
